Having set the challenge to post a new video every day, I quickly realise I’ll have to depend mostly on holiday footage. These clips have been sat on the camera for 6 months, unstitched, so now I’m working my way through them. What I like about this shot is the framing. The 360 world is open, but you can direct the viewers eye with the framing. If the viewer doesn’t look around, then they miss that great view. With all storytelling, not everyone gets all the details.

10th Jan – Dental 360: Premiere Pro
Purchased Premier Pro and this is the first edit. Added a nice look with voice over. I learnt to edit on Final Cut Pro and have had problems using Premier in the past, but this is what I need to edit 360 video. By reading/watching tutorials, I managed to figure it out. Exporting the files to maintain the best quality is the main issue, but there are good presets to work around.
9th Jan – Kids gloving
VR Gloving was my first 360 video idea. I’m sure a unique experience can be created. So in Italy I get the kids to try out my gloves. Even though they’d rather play with their friend, they entertain my request. Low lighting effects the quality. I’m sitting in the stitch line but don’t want the tripod to fall over. At this point I’m using the selfie stick.
8th Jan – Doll’s House
Would love to tell stories using the kids toys. Discuss the housing crisis in a child friendly way. The clips are joined using the PixPro software. It took longer to set up than expected so need more planning.
7th Jan – Time lapse (1)
Clear, blue sky time lapse (1). I prefer the pace of this setting. Good stitching and the stand completely disappears. Must be dependent on the height go the tripod. Too fast to capture the crazy squirrels.
6th Jan -Juice
Last day of Christmas and first juice of the year. Beetroot, carrot, apple and celery. Always start with good intentions.
5th Jan -Dental 360
This is a clip from my Dental 360 project, which was the driving force for my interest in 360 video. Once I decided to be involved, I had to see the project progress. Now I’m waiting to see what happens next…
4th Jan – Moneglia!
Such a beautiful place and great for the kids. You can walk in the water up to the boulders, where it’s still shallow. Not the best stitch line. The camera’s too close to the railings. I’m attempting to look casual.
3rd Jan – Italy 2016
Summer 2016, on holiday in Italy. Perfect opportunity to capture some beautiful scenery.
2nd Jan – Timelapse (10)
First time I try out time-lapse (10). Introducing the glass head. I knew it would come in handy one day. Love the effect of the sky. Need to note file size, ratio and duration. Too bright.
